The future is in the children.

We seem to think the world is ours, but  we will soon  be gone and they will be operating with the legacy we gave them. Why not give them something to remember you for?

Caring for the needy children

Linn Dappen From the home in Las Margaritas has taken the children with her to the US for a few months of needed R&R and to see her family there.

In the meantime, we are working with the children at the home in Teopisca under the care of Pastor Carlos and his wife,Yara . They have three children of their own and the rest have come from a local prison. The daily need is still the same. Food, clothing, gas, utilities and rent, plus an effort to build a new home for them. The house they are currently renting is totally inadequate and in need of many repairs. They are living on a dangerous street with big trucks and buses rushing by all day. There is no place for the children to play. Please check out the photos in the gallery. Notice how tiny these beautiful children are.

The Mexican prison system is different. Although men and women are separated, marriage and children are allowed. The child can stay with the mother until age 3 and then must leave the prison. At times, there is no place for them to go and they end up on the street at age three. Can you image being in that situation? Born and raised in a cold prison, then suddenly being taken from your parents and thrown out on the street. Being on the street is scary for an adult. These children are naive and defenseless. They either starve or are taken by the slave trade for exploitation.  But they are also very bright and loving. All they need is an opportunity and a hand up, not a hand out.

Pastor Carlos and his wife have stepped up to the plate and are taking these children in from a prison near Teopisca. It is a BIG undertaking needing about $2,000 a month for just the basic living expenses to care for about 20 people. The plan is to expand to about 30 children when they get moved into the new house. In addition to the normal living costs,  is the construction costs and other expenses. They need a larger, more reliable vehicle also.

We welcome visitors and volunteers. Just about any skill can be utilized here. Spend a few days or a long term assignment. You can not help but fall in love with these children and Mexico. If you can't come, please consider a generous donation to help these poor children. They will be old before their parents are released. The sentences here are long and without review. Use of drugs is automatically 25 years with no recourse. Other violations carry similar sentences. YOU can make a difference in the lives of these children. Please do it today.

Thank you, donation info is on the contact page.
