We're working on it!

The story.  On a trip to see a friend at his ranch, we drove though the small village of Chijilte. Stopping to visit, we began to get a picture of the needs of the area. 0 employment, cold and hungry. No doctors, little medicine. People dying on a regular basis from simple maladies. More than 100 in the area this past year. Do YOU care?

The people were crying for help. We began looking into it. But when we contacted the village president, he did not want us because we were not Catholic. So we went away.

While visiting a friend in Teopisca, there was a knock at the door. A delegation from Campo Santiago was there, saying we want you to come and build the hospital. We will donate the land.

With the help of many,  This project is up and moving forward. See the pics in the photo section. The people are excited. A nurse, Emily, who lives and works in San Cristobal, has volunteered to visit weekly. (See the Journal). She needs our support.

Richard Flamer, (The) former war correspondent, turned contractor here, is heading up the project and doing well. Without him this project might well come to a halt. We are anxious to finish this project, both because of the area need and also because inflation is really driving the costs up. Be sure and check out the photo gallery.

Could we count on you in this?

Field Reports

The latest reports from the field.

The plan is for a 2 story building of about 24,000 square feet. We want to build room by room so each can be used when completed  At present we have 2 lower walls up, 2 bridges in place and started rooms for the doctor and dentist. The 1st room is nearly finished and ready for the doctor to come. We are ready ready to
level the lot and build more.  The people are pitching in with some volunteer labor and gifts are coming from here and there. Lets keep it going, folks.
